Dental pain and unexpected damage should not be ignored. If something does not feel right, contact us as soon as you can.
At Claremont Dental Rooms, we will assess what has happened, explain your options clearly and make every effort to arrange a prompt appointment, including same-day care where availability allows.

Dental problems that shouldn’t wait:

Persistent, throbbing or worsening dental pain can be caused by decay, infection, inflammation or a crack in the tooth. We will identify the source of the pain and discuss the most appropriate way to manage it.

A chipped, cracked or broken tooth may be sensitive, painful or sharp against your tongue or cheek. Early assessment can help protect the remaining tooth and prevent further damage.

A crown that has fractured, loosened or come away should be assessed promptly. Depending on its condition, it may be possible to reattach or repair it, or a temporary restoration may be needed while a replacement is planned.

Contact us if an implant crown, implant bridge or another implant component feels loose, uncomfortable or broken. Avoid chewing on the area until it has been assessed.

Pain around a wisdom tooth may be caused by inflammation, infection, decay or pressure on the surrounding tissues. An examination and imaging, where required, will help determine whether the tooth can be managed conservatively or needs removal.

We assess teeth that have been chipped, displaced, loosened or knocked out following a fall, sporting incident or other injury. Please call immediately after dental trauma so we can advise you and arrange the appropriate care.
When to seek emergency medical care
Call triple zero (000) or attend your nearest hospital emergency department if you have:
Difficulty breathing, speaking or swallowing
Severe or rapidly increasing swelling of the mouth, tongue, face or neck
Heavy bleeding that will not stop
A significant head or facial injury
What happens at an urgent dental appointment?
Our first priority is to identify the cause of the problem and help you become comfortable.
Your appointment may include an examination and dental imaging where appropriate. We will explain what we find, what can be done immediately, and whether any further treatment will be required.
Depending on the problem, treatment may be completed at the urgent appointment or temporary care may be provided to relieve pain and protect the area until definitive treatment can be arranged. Costs and treatment options will be discussed before proceeding.
